Petersen Research Consultants, LLC is led by Dr. Jodi Petersen (she/her). Jodi has a doctorate degree in Ecological-Community Psychology from Michigan State University and focuses on helping organizations define, gather, and use data to increase their impact. She is passionate about social justice and equity. She has expertise in systems change, facilitation, qualitative and quantitative data, and participatory research/evaluation methods. Jodi has been working with nonprofit and governmental organizations since 2005, through her role at PRC, and her previous roles as Director of the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy's Community Research Institute at Grand Valley State University, faculty at Michigan State University, and faculty at Alma College. She has particular expertise in helping courts implement criminogenic risk assessment instruments to reduce bias, match clients to the most appropriate and impactful programs, and decrease repeat offending. Combining applied research and technology skills, Jodi helps organizations create low burden ways to measure and increase their impact. Jodi is based out of the Grand Rapids, Michigan area and shares her life with her husband, Aaron, two daughters, Sawyer and Layla, and a couch full of rescue pets.

Lisa Venema joined Petersen Research Consultants in June of 2019 as Director of Operations. Lisa’s zone of genius is taking the complex and breaking it down into clear, feasible processes. She leads the project management and back office operations of PRC, keeping all of the details, timelines, and communication flowing smoothly. Lisa previously has served as Senior Project Coordinator at the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy’s Community Research Institute at Grand Valley State University. PRC is a values fit for Lisa as well, as she believes data is a key tool to moving the nonprofit and public sectors toward better outcomes. Lisa lives in Byron Center, Michigan with her husband and is a proud mom of three – Danielle, Luke, and Nolan.
